Rana Abu-Zhaya

Rana completed her BA in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Haifa and her MSc. and PhD. in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences at Purdue University. Prior to starting her graduate studies in the US, she worked as a speech-language pathologist in various child development centers focusing mostly on providing therapy to young children with language and communication disorders.

Her research thus far has focused on studying the ways in which multimodal cues, and specifically tactile cues, are coupled with infant-directed speech. At the Hebrew university she is working on extending her previous work to explore the language input to infants growing up in Hebrew- and Arabic-speaking families, as well as studying the statistical patterns present in infant-directed input.
